Job Description:
The Network Support Engineer will be responsible for real-time monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving network issues to ensure the highest levels of service availability and performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in network operations, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing top-tier customer support.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage the network infrastructure, ensuring continuous availability of broadband services.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot network faults, outages, and performance issues.
- Work with vendors, ISPs, and internal teams to resolve connectivity and service disruptions.
- Perform routine network maintenance, updates, and upgrades.
- Respond to escalations from customers, providing Level 1 and Level 2 technical support.
- Maintain detailed logs and documentation of network incidents, actions taken, and resolutions.
- Support the deployment and configuration of routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
- Assist in optimizing network performance, including bandwidth management and latency reduction.
- Participate in shift-based 24/7 operations, including night and weekend shifts as required.
- Follow established network security protocols and incident response procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers as needed.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in network operations, technical support, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, etc.).
- Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, PRTG, SolarWinds, Zabbix).
- Hands-on experience with network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Familiarity with broadband technologies such as Fiber, GPON and wireless networking.
- Knowledge of Ubiquiti devices, including UniFi, EdgeRouter, and AirMax products.
- Basic knowledge of Linux and command-line troubleshooting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Certifications such as CCNA or equivalent are preferred.
